What job did you do before joining the industry : I worked in a furniture store – for an ex jockey!!
Age at the time of your first bet : 5 years of Age – on the Grand National
What was it : 10p e/w on Spanish Steps to win the 73 Grand National – beaten by the great Red Rum
What has been your best ever bet : Probably two, Dancing Brave to win the King George and the Derby and perhaps the most pleasing was following Sea the Stars from his 2 yr old career and then backing him to win all his big races including the Arc, which was the climax of a great year
Who is your all time Sporting Hero : Red Rum – he brought so much to the game and inspired me from such a young age. A true champion
Whose the king of the sporting world right now – the undisputed champion : That’s easy – A P McCoy. It’s incredible to think that he has been so dominant for so long and that he is as accessible to the public in a £1000 claimer as he is on Gold Cup day. Day in day out his professionalism and attitude are beyond reproach at all time and he is the ultimate sporting hero. I was made up when he won Sports Personality of the year – great recognition for a true champion
What is your favourite sport – Good jumps racing for me – any day of the week
Favourite Restaurant/Pub to eat in : I’m paying where are we going? Some good places where I live in North Wales but amongst my favourites is Brookhouse Mill in Denbigh

Describe your perfect Racing day: A sunny spring day and the prospect of a great jumping card – it doesn’t get any better than that.
What’s the best sporting occasion you have ever been to : I have been lucky enough to see a lot of the best horse racing events and I love Arc Day at Longchamp but I think the Melbourne Cup – seeing Makybe Diva win her third consecutive Melbourne Cup was extra special. It’s an incredible race in a great city.
If you could live anywhere in the world – where would it be: Great Britain for me
What’s good about Horse racing right now : A Golden era of jumping. Istabraq, followed by Kauto Star, Denman, and lately Big Bucks and Sprinter Sacre. It’s just wonderous stuff.
